I spent my Saturday night with my soul mate Amena at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts swooning over Alvin Ailey's dance theatre. It was their last night in Toronto and there was no way I was missing it. I promised myself beforehand that I would not cry but had to catch some tears before they strolled down my cheek. The dance company performed some original pieces choreographed by Alvin Ailey himself as well as pieces by Robert Battle and Paul Taylor.
If I had to chose my absolute favourite pieces it would have to be 'Fix Me Jesus' from Revelations (choreographed by Alvin Ailey). Incredible. And In/Side (choreographed by Robert Battle). Moved me to tears.
